Free Packing Slip Templates for Every Packing Workflow

One template does not fit every seller. A full-page slip suits gift-heavy shops, a 4 × 6 label suits thermal printers, and multi-parcel orders need a package count that most templates forget. Start from the layout that matches how you actually pack.

A packing slip template is the layout that decides whether the person closing the box can verify the contents at a glance. The library below covers the three layouts that cover nearly every small-seller workflow, plus the field structure they all share.

The shared field structure

Every template in the library uses the same backbone: header (your business name, order number, order date), ship-to block (recipient and full address), line items (SKU, product name, quantity, optional variant or bin), and an optional notes block that prints only when there is something to say. Prices are deliberately absent — that is the invoice’s job. The full field-by-field breakdown lives on the packing slip template page.

Template 1 — Full-page slip (A4 / US Letter)

The default choice. One page per order with generous spacing for the tick-off column, printed from any spreadsheet or straight from the generator. Best for gift-heavy shops, fragile goods that need handling notes, and anyone without a label printer.

Template 2 — Thermal label (4 × 6 inch)

The volume choice. One label per order from a thermal printer, often merged with or placed next to the carrier label. Best for high-volume sellers and anyone shipping dozens of same-size parcels a week.

Template 3 — Multi-parcel slip

The corner-case choice for orders that ship in more than one box. Adds a package count (“package 2 of 3”) and a per-package item split so a receiver never mistakes a two-box order for a shortage. Best for furniture, wholesale, and bulk reshipments.

All three layouts are built from the same field structure, so one CSV gets you started: open it in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice and replace the three sample rows with a real order.

When a template stops being enough

Templates fill one slip at a time. The break-even is around twenty orders in a single packing session: above that, grouping rows by order and repeating address blocks by hand becomes the work itself. Upload the same CSV structure to the bulk packing slip generator and it produces one slip per order in any of the three layouts, plus a consolidated pick list for the walk around the shelves — free, in the browser, with the CSV never uploaded.

Questions, answered

Template library questions

Are these packing slip templates really free?+

Yes. The CSV template is a plain UTF-8 file with no macros, no licence key, and no attribution requirement. Use it commercially, rename columns, and delete fields you do not need.

Which template should a small shop start with?+

The full-page A4/Letter slip. It carries the most information, prints from any spreadsheet, and folds into the box without a label printer. Move to the 4 × 6 thermal layout only when volume justifies the printer.

What is the difference between a template and a generator?+

A template gives you the layout; you fill every cell by hand. A generator takes your order CSV and fills the same layout automatically — one slip per order, addresses and quantities included. Templates are right below roughly twenty orders per session; above that, the generator saves real time.

Do these templates work with Google Sheets?+

Yes. The CSV opens directly in Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers, and LibreOffice. Keep one row per line item and repeat the order number on every row so grouped tools can read the file correctly.

Can I use a template for eBay, Etsy, or Whatnot orders?+

Yes — paste or import the platform export into the template’s column structure, or skip the copying and generate slips directly from the export with the platform guides for eBay, Etsy, WooCommerce, and Whatnot.
